Fahad al hadi - Slimi

My name is Fahad Al Hadi, I am an Omani National living and working in Dubai, United Arab Emirates I am a self-taught, digital conceptual artist. I channel my frustrations, desires and thoughts through the medium of digital art. Today, my ever-growing portfolio contains a catalogue of works influenced by contemporary culture, personal history and social issues driven by the incredible vivid nature of my dreams.

Who is Fahad as an artist and how did you start?

I discovered my passion for artistic expression as a teenager. After many years of sketching in pencil, I went to digital in 2013 having discovered the infinite possibilities of Autodesk Sketchbook and Photoshop.

    Describe your art?

My work features anonymous figures often contorted and distorted, reflecting my darkest thoughts, dreams and deepest emotions.

    What inspires you?

I am often inspired by my own thoughts and actions, I am often quite conscious of the world around me and how I act and react within it. My work is a manifestation of this awareness.

As well, I am inspired and influenced by the works of the surrealist Salvador Dali. His work is other-worldly and a bit bizarre, which attracts me. I appreciate and relate to his aesthetic.

What is your favorite color and why?

My favorite color is black. Why? Because I think black is a mysterious color that is typically associated with the unknown. The color black represents strength, seriousness, power, fear and elegance.

Describe your style and in what direction of art you prefer?

You can say I am more into surrealism, modernism and impressionism. But, I can also change the style of my art depending on where my mind and thoughts take me. I think it’s important to be adaptive, but to remain true to yourself.

where do you see yourself after few years?

In the future, I would like to be an artist known for the quality of my work before my name. Eventually, I would like my reputation to proceed me, as they say. I would like to have my own art studio and teaching facility to help novice artists who share my passion for art and give them a better understanding and appreciation for art.
