Louis Vuitton SS27: A Body in Motion

For Spring Summer 2027, Nicolas Ghesquière considers what happens to clothes when the body moves. Titled Ergonomie, his Louis Vuitton collection loosens the relationship between structure and silhouette, allowing garments to take their shape from the person wearing them.

Tailoring sheds its internal layers, while chiffon, silk and cashmere scarf fabrics bring an unexpected softness to the wardrobe. Leather follows the body’s contours, and knitwear traces its lines. The construction is intricate, even when the result appears effortless: shifting tensions and fluid surfaces give pieces their form without holding the wearer in place.

There is a connection here to Vuitton’s history of travel, approached through the physical experience of getting dressed and moving through the world. Lightness becomes practical as well as visual, with footwear grounding the collection’s otherwise weightless mood.

Against a still cityscape, the moving figures bring that idea into focus. Ghesquière’s interest lies in clothes as they are lived in changing shape with each step, gesture and turn.
