FENDI is getting undressed.
For SS27, Maria Grazia Chiuri puts the body before the clothes, stripping away some of fashion’s old ideas around gender, propriety and what belongs underneath. Underwear slips into public view. Lace turns provocative, dressing gowns hit the street, and sheer layers reveal as much as they conceal. Masculine and feminine codes blur until neither really matters. Raffaella Carrà, Italian pop’s eternal provocateur, hovers over the collection with her particular mix of glamour, sexuality and rebellion. It gives FENDI a playful irreverence: sensual, but never submissive. Then everything collides. Animal print with silk. Punk with bourgeois polish. Velvet with parchment. Jewel-covered shoes with barely-there layers. Nothing is particularly interested in behaving. And that’s the point. This isn’t about controlling the body. It’s about letting it take up space strong, fragile, exposed, contradictory, and completely its own.
