Balenciaga summer 2027 - Pierpaolo Piccioli
BALENCIAGA SUMMER 2027: COUTURE, SET FREE
What happens when couture leaves the salon and slips into your everyday wardrobe? For Balenciaga Summer 2027, Pierpaolo Piccioli takes the precision of the atelier into jeans, T-shirts and leather jackets, giving familiar clothes a different relationship with the body.
The shift is in the cut. Denim falls on the bias, shirts find new angles, and stitching brings sculptural volume to cotton and leather. Shapes drawn from the house’s couture vocabulary surface where you least expect them. A T-shirt becomes a study in architecture; a leather jacket carries a curve that changes its entire attitude.
There’s an intimacy to it all. Clothes are draped, formed and shaped by hand, with movement guiding the result. Lace reveals skin through openings that become part of the construction. Organza flowers, filled with compressed air, introduce an unexpected play between delicacy and volume. Drawstrings and buttoned collars let the wearer adjust the silhouette, making the final gesture their own.
That softness extends to the accessories. The Dahlia Mule and Wave Thong Sandal sit alongside the unstructured Lounge Sneaker, while the Nodo and Silhou Tote bring a supple, almost organic quality to leather. Braided sunglasses and seashell-inspired Getaria jewellery add texture without interrupting the ease.
At the centre of the show sits French artist Aude Franjou’s Les Coraux de la Liberté, a wrapped-linen sculpture that gives the collection its name. Its intertwining forms offer a fitting image for Piccioli’s Balenciaga: craft as something living, capable of growing in new directions.
Summer 2027 finds its energy in that freedom. The atelier does the intricate work; the wearer gets to move.
